The Hamilton Steel Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of
Shawn Dietrich as the U16 AAA Head Coach for the 2025-2026 season. With over 15 years of experience at the U16 AAA level, Coach Dietrich brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to the club.
Having spent 14 years coaching in Waterloo and one year in Huron Perth, Shawn's coaching career is defined by remarkable achievements. His teams have played an impressive 1053 U16 AAA games, accumulating 582 wins at the U16 AAA level, and participating in 13 OHL Cup appearances, including a semi-final finish and two quarter-final spots.
Coach Dietrich's dedication to player development has been instrumental in shaping the careers of many talented athletes. His influence can be seen in 91 OHL draft picks, 12 NHL draftees, and 15 players currently playing professionally, including three in the NHL. Additionally, his mentorship has helped 13 players commit to NCAA programs and 17 players secure spots in CIS programs.
Beyond his U16 achievements, Shawn has a wealth of experience across various levels, including coaching a season with the Waterloo Siskins Junior B team and currently serving with the Listowel Cyclones Junior B team. With 1681 total games coached, including 204 games at the University level and 101 Junior B games, Shawn’s commitment to developing elite talent has earned him widespread respect in the hockey community.
