The Hamilton Steel Hockey Club is thrilled to introduce
Matt Timms as the head coach for the U11 team for the 2025-2026 season.
Matt has deep roots in Hamilton, having played his entire minor hockey career with both the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs and Hamilton Huskies. His impressive career continued when he was drafted 22nd overall to the OHL Peterborough Petes, where he played 4 successful seasons. Afterward, Matt wrapped up his junior career with the London Knights, further solidifying his reputation as a standout player.
Matt then took his talents to the University of Guelph, where he played on the men’s varsity team. He was recognized as an OUA All-Star, a testament to his skill and leadership on the ice. One of Matt’s proudest accomplishments as a player came in the 2016-2017 OHL season when he was nominated for the prestigious Max Kaminsky Award as the league’s top defenseman.
In addition to his successful career in the OHL and at the University level, Matt had the honor of attending the Vegas Golden Knights’ inaugural training camp, marking another milestone in his playing career.

We believe their hockey experience, leadership, and commitment to player development will provide a solid foundation for our team. With their guidance, we look forward to helping our players grow both on and off the ice.”
We are confident that under Matt’s leadership, our U11 players will develop the skills and character that will benefit them in the game and beyond.
